Writers and poets from UNESCO literary cities are invited to ask each other questions
Ulyanovsk UNESCO City of Literature (Russia) launches the open call for the new international project The Only Question (Authors in Conversation).
The organizers invite writers, poets, playwrights, translators from UNESCO literary cities to imagine they have the opportunity to ask just one question to an author from any other literary city. The project is open to authors of any genre and direction, as well as for translators working with any languages.
The initiative will help to introduce the authors from UNESCO literary cities to each other, establish their dialogue, and will contribute to the development of possible collaborative writing projects. The project will also make it possible to understand what issues are of concern to authors from different countries today. Besides, it will provide an opportunity for readers to get to know new authors.
Questions and answers by the authors (in Russian and English) along with a short biography of each participant and links to their websites, publications will regularly appear on the Ulyanovsk UNESCO City of Literature Website, other literary cities websites, and social media, etc. Writers' dialogs will also be offered for publication on the project partners' platforms (literary magazines, libraries, literary media, and mass media). As a result of the project, in spring 2022 an online brochure will be released (in Russian and English) with all the conversations, information about the participants, websites, publications links.
Applications from authors are accepted by October 31, 2021, via the special online form (you will also find all the organizational project details in the form).
