New generation libraries opened in Ulyanovsk
On December 14 and 15, 2019, new generation libraries were opened in Ulyanovsk – UNESCO City of Literature: they appeared based on specialized library No. 18 "Family Library" and library No. 12 named after V. I. Dal.
The opening of the new type of libraries became possible thanks to the national project "Culture". The libraries were renovated: modern furniture, computer and library equipment, and office equipment were purchased for them.
A total of 6 model libraries were opened in the region this year. Libraries received 3.5 thousand new books. In 2020, it is planned to open several new libraries, including the renovated Goncharov Central City Library and two children's libraries in Dimitrovgrad and Sengiley. In addition to reading the literature, children can get new skills: publishing, creating an audiobook, editing a video, courses on financial and digital literacy. There are also courses for preschoolers to prepare for the first grade. Many resources are available digitally, including the collection of the National Digital Library.
Libraries have created multifunctional spaces for adults and children with a favorable environment for reading, communication, study, work and leisure, which are accessible, including for people with low mobility.
The new infrastructure also includes new services in libraries. In the children's reading room, children will be introduced to Internet security, digital knowledge and useful digital resources for teenagers, as well as to online communication skills. With the help of the multimedia complex, children will be introduced to a new discipline - financial literacy. Teenagers are offered educational computer games.
Adults will be able to work in professional graphics programs and prepare any information materials: from brochures to videos. A large film screen will showcase the capabilities of the Culture.ru portal to the city's residents. These include performances, lectures, music, virtual museum tours and online seminars with partner cities.
The collection of new libraries has been replenished with books by modern authors, new editions of classical, popular science and industry literature. Free access to electronic databases and LitRes is also available to readers.
